Tabby Bradley - Head Middle School Girls Coach
Coach Tabby Bradley brings a passion for development, positive team culture and lifelong enrichment to the Carmel School volleyball program. While she brings a collective 8 years of coaching experience ,she began coaching Middle School Volleyball for The Carmel School in 2025. Tabby served her first season under the mentorship of Robert Kocher, former Carmel Athletic Director and current Head Volleyball Coach for Mary Baldwin University. This experience provided Tabby with an opportunity to develop her coaching knowledge while learning from an experienced head coach and program leader.
Tabby’s coaching philosophy centers on developing her team as athletes as well as members of the Carmel community. She coaches the fundamentals of volleyball while teaching confidence, perseverance, accountability, teamwork, and respect for the game. Her belief is that middle school athletics should provide a positive environment where athletes can learn, make mistakes, grow, and develop a genuine love for competition and teamwork.
The 2025 Middle School Volleyball season was a year of growth, development, and building a strong foundation for the future of our program. With an exceptionally young team, our focus extended beyond the scoreboard as we worked to develop fundamental skills, confidence, teamwork, and a positive team culture. The 2025 season prepared and provided the openings for the 2026 season in the following areas:
- JV advancement and development opportunities
- Varsity to Middle School mentorship
- Leadership opportunities for older athletes
- Solid program fundamentals and player development
- Program growth and team building workshops
Coach Clayborne played elite-level club soccer from ages 12–18 with the Roanoke Star Elite Travel Team. During his club career, he competed internationally in the prestigious Gothia Cup, the world's largest youth soccer tournament, held in Gothenburg, Sweden.
At the high school level, he earned a starting position on the varsity team as a freshman. As a junior, he was recognized as one of the top players in his conference, finishing as the runner-up for Conference Player of the Year honors. Unfortunately, a torn ACL during his senior season ended his playing career.
Reflecting on that experience, Coach Clayborne believes God had a different path planned for him. Today, he is dedicated to sharing his knowledge, experience, and passion for the game with the next generation of players, helping them grow and pursue opportunities to compete at the collegiate level.
3 Seasons as Head Coach, Carmel Varsity Boys Soccer
1 Season as Head Coach, Carmel Varsity Girls Soccer
When Coach Clayborne took over the boys' varsity program, the team had not recorded a win in the previous two seasons. Since then, the program has steadily improved:
- Year 1: 2 Wins
- Year 2: 1 Win
- Year 3: 5 Wins and a VMAC Championship appearance
The 2025-26 season marked a historic breakthrough for the program. The team defeated Grove Christian in the conference semifinals—a team Carmel had not beaten in its previous eight matchups—and advanced to the VMAC Conference Championship match.
