Coaches:
Lacy Whittaker serves as the Head Coach of The Carmel School Swim Team, where she is dedicated to developing student-athletes who excel both in and out of the pool. Her coaching philosophy emphasizes strong fundamentals, technical excellence, teamwork, discipline, and Christ-centered leadership, helping swimmers build confidence, resilience, and a lifelong love for the sport.
Under her leadership, The Carmel School Swim Team has continued to grow in participation, competitiveness, and team culture. Lacy has also played an integral role in organizing and hosting championship-level meets, working alongside coaches, parents, and volunteers to create exceptional experiences for student-athletes throughout the Virginia Metro Athletic Conference (VMAC).
When she's not on the pool deck, Lacy enjoys spending time with her family, coaching and teaching swimming, volunteering in the community, traveling to Major League Baseball stadiums, supporting her son's athletic and academic pursuits and continuing her education while pursuing opportunities to serve and care for others in her community. She is committed to building meaningful relationships with students and families and helping every child reach their God-given potential.
Lacy says,
"The relationships we build today create the leaders of tomorrow. My goal is to ensure every student feels known, encouraged, and empowered to succeed."
As a graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University, Coach Whittaker reflects on her commitment to lifelong learning and serving others. She has a background in youth development, education, nonprofit leadership, and healthcare, which provides a unique perspective on coaching, allowing her to focus on the physical, mental, and emotional well-being of every athlete.
With more than 20 years of experience in youth development, nonprofit leadership, aquatics, and education, Lacy has built a swim program that values personal growth as much as competitive success. She is committed to helping each swimmer reach their full potential while fostering sportsmanship, accountability, perseverance, and respect.
