The Carmel School Opens New STEAM Lab

Ruther Glen, Virginia – Students, families, board members, and faculty explored the new Carmel Collaboration Center (C³), a STEAM lab, during an October 20 grand-opening celebration at The Carmel School.

Over the last year, a classroom at The Carmel School has been redesigned into a collaboration-friendly lab that provides students the opportunity to integrate courses in the fields of science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics.

The C³ lab allows students in preschool through fifth grade to experience real-world situations using a project-based system. The lab contains stations for students to use several types robots, a green screen, and iPads to inspire creative thinking.

“The C³ lab offers students at The Carmel School training for the future,” said Carolyn Williamson, Head of School. “The Carmel Collaboration Center fosters the mission of The Carmel School by supporting the academic curriculum and challenging students to problem solve unique situations, frequently using technology,” she continued.
