FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) teams #25653 and #31711 are The Carmel School's extracurricular robotics teams open to students aged 12-18. Students in all grades of Middle and Upper School are encouraged to join the team, regardless of other athletic or extracurricular involvements.
FTC team practice takes place at the end of the day during the club and study hall block until 5:00 p.m. during the FTC season. During the off-season, FTC team members engage in community outreach and STEAM enrichment activities, including mentoring and training the Carmel School's FIRST LEGO League (FLL) team members.
First Lego League
Each season, team members take on the challenge of designing, building, wiring, coding, and testing a robot for a brand new robot game. The team then takes the robot to two competitions, where students compete and collaborate with other FTC teams in a series of timed matches.
